Dear WMS families,
Each term we focus on a different artist.
We aim to give the children an understanding of the style of that artist and to be able recognise someone of their most famous works and of course to paint like an artist in their style!
We are incredibly lucky to have three art teachers at WMS and we work with their passion and knowledge to create exciting experiences for the children.
Hopefully you will receive some masterpieces of your own soon!
This term we will be looking at Georges Seurat.
Seurat is considered to be one of the most important post-Impressionist painters and is famous for his pointillist style.
We will be looking at many of Seurat’s works over the term but will be focussing in depth on the following:
A Pine Tree
A Sunday on La Grande Jatte
The Eiffel Tower
Bathers at Asnières
Le Bec de Hoc Grand Camp
The Seine at Courbevoie
We would like to encourage you to learn about Seurat with your child!
There are some Seurat original paintings in the National Gallery in London. Please do go and visit them so that your child can see the real paintings.
If you have any books or prints of Seurat’s work please do send them in for your child to show us.
Please do use the library to find some Seurat books.
Look out for some of our art results on Instagram soon!
With best wishes
Miss Lorna, Miss Alex, Miss Anna & Miss Rebekah
